Investigators Term Victorville Brothers’ Deaths as Murder-Suicide
VICTORVILLE – Investigators are calling an early morning Sunday argument between brothers a murder-suicide after a shooting. San Bernardino County Deputies said on Tuesday that an argument that erupted between Ladetric Jenkins, 34, and his brother, Dennis Jenkins, 40, led to a shooting.
Deputies arrived at 4:17 a.m. on June 30, having responded to a suicidal report in the 13200 block of Crossroads Court. Upon arrival, deputies checked the residence and first located Ladetric Jenkins inside. A short time later, Dennis Jenkins’ body was discovered.
Both men, according to a report, appeared to have died from gunshot wounds. It was during the investigation that detectives learned that the men were siblings.
“It was apparent that an argument occurred between Ladetric and Dennis Jenkins,” said Detective Mauricio Hurtado. “It is believed sometime during the argument, Ladetric Jenkins shot Dennis Jenkins to death; then turned the gun on himself, committing suicide.”
As of Tuesday, detectives were uncertain if the brothers had lived together, or what the argument was about that led to the eventual shooting. It was not reported on what alerted the deputies to the shooting, if a nearby resident had called or if one of the brothers had contacted authorities.
The residence is located at the end of a cul-de-sac area in a residential area near Luna Rd. and Hartsfield Street. Just to the west of the shooting scene is a middle school.
Hurtado and Sgt. Trevis Newport of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dept. Homicide Detail were continuing their investigation.
