NAPA – On Saturday morning a 17-year-old girl was innocently shopping at McCaulou’s, a local department store, when she was allegedly seized by her hip/abdomen area with two hands by registered sex offender Thomas Andrew Mutert. Mutert reportedly grabbed the victim for sexual gratification, when she resisted, he grabbed her arms.
The victim was able to evade Mutert’s grasp, and the offender reportedly fled through the store’s west door. Officers discovered Mutert at the Napa County Crisis Center, he allegedly confessed to having grabbed the girl for sexual satisfaction. Police were not able to establish any prior connection between the victim and her attacker. The 33-year-old civilian is on parole for a similar offense, according to officers.
Mutert was arrested and booked into the Napa County Jail on violating parole, annoying a child under the age of 18 and sexual battery.
