Man Shot, Arrested by El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office
A man brandishing a small handgun and threatening people who refused to give him a ride to the supermarket was shot and arrested by Deputies of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, according to an official press release.
Joshua Whitecotton, 21, is reportedly being held for assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into the El Dorado County Jail after being released from the hospital for a gunshot wound.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, just before midnight, the Dispatch Center received a call of a young man waiving a small handgun and threatening people who refused to give him a ride to the Raley’s supermarket in El Dorado Hills. The man with the handgun reportedly was walking in the area of the El Dorado Hills Library on Silva Valley Road.
The responding deputy found the subject on Silva Valley Road near the El Dorado Hills Town Center. According to the Sheriff’s Office, as the deputy attempted to make contact with the suspect, he brandished a handgun, forcing the deputy to fire one round, striking the man in his hand. The man, later identified as Whitecotton, was transported to the hospital for his injuries that were not life threatening. The involved deputy was not injured.
