12 Year Old Victim Provides Crucial Evidence; Suspect Arrested
WOODLAND – On July 4, the twelve-year-old female victim of an incident of indecent exposure provided police completely accurate and useful evidence that enabled officers to quickly nab suspect Quang Huy Vo.
Around 5pm, Woodland police arrived at 800 California Street in West Woodland in response to a reported case of indecent exposure that had occurred just minutes before. This incident fit the pattern of a number of similar alleged crimes that had taken place over the previous few days. Previous victims had reported the perpetrator drove a gold car.
This time, the twelve year old victim had the presence of mind to write down the gold car’s license plate number.
While speaking with the responding officer, the victim (whose name will not be released since she is a juvenile) reported that the driver of the gold car got her unsuspecting attention and then exposed himself while she walked beside the vehicle.
Utilizing the license plate information, the officer asked another law enforcement agency to contact occupants at the address listed on the gold car’s registration. Personnel from the outside agency telephoned someone at the address and requested they contact the Woodland investigating officer. Upon receiving the requested call, the Woodland officer expressed the urgent need to speak with whoever had been driving the gold car that afternoon.
Ultimately the suspect himself called the investigating officer and agreed to meet in Woodland. After subsequent interviews in the field and with a Woodland police detective, Davis resident Quang Huy Vo, 22, was arrested and lodged in the Yolo County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Anyone with further information about the other similar incidents of alleged indecent exposure involving a gold car are asked to contact Woodland Police at (530) 666-2411.
