Anderson man Arrested in Connection to Vehicle Theft
ANDERSON – At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 14 , officers received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from a residence located in the 2900 block of Balls Ferry Rd. According to Sgt. Bryan Van Dyke, an unnamed source advised officers that 23-year-old Daniel Earl Shankles may be the perpetrator, subsequently police began to search for him.
Police began the pursuit at Gardenia Street, where an individual reported that Shankle was causing a commotion, and that he had the stolen car with him. Officers discovered the vehicle deserted a short distance away; Shankle was not in sight.
A short time later, police spied Shankle in a driveway on Daisy St., according to Sgt Van Dyke, but Shankles fled south, jumping several fences in his attempted get-away.
With the assistance of Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies, officers apprehended Shankles on the 3100 block of Briarwood Dr. Shankles was arrested in April for under the influence of a controlled substance and violation of probation.
Police found that Shankles was holding heroin and methamphetamine in addition to other stolen property. He was arrested on suspicion of a probation violation, possessing stolen property and two counts of possessing a controlled substance. The Shasta County District Attorney’s Office will review the case.
