Man Arrested after Discovery of $900,000 Worth of Marijuana
The Visalia Police Department’s Narcotics Unit have arrested 33 year-old Steven John Kersten for his role in growing indoor marijuana in a south Visalia Home.
The discovery came around 10:20 a.m. of Tuesday morning when officers served a search warrant for a home in the 1600 block of West La Vida Avenue.
In the house, Officers found 439 marijuana plants, over 10 pounds of processed marijuana, over three pounds of unprocessed marijuana, and other items Officers believe are associated with distributing marijuana. The marijuana was stored in three bedrooms and one bathroom.
If the plants had fully matured, their estimated street value would have been $900,000.
According to Sergeant Ron Epp, Kersten bypassed the electrical meter for the home and stole power in order to grow the plants. Kersten was later booked for suspicion of cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sales.
