Three Men Arrested for Drive-by Shooting
Along with the Special Weapons and Tactics team, the Turlock Police Department recently served two search warrants. The investigation is related to a drive-by shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Birchwood on June 23rd, 2013.
The first of the warrants was served at 7:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of Alamaden in Modesto. Investigators were able to arrest 20 year-old Leonardo Ortiz and 22 year-old Jose Ortiz, both of Patterson, for charges related to the shooting. Investigators also found two pounds of marijuana in Leonardo’s vehicle.
The second warrant was served at 4:00 p.m. in the 600 block of Pine Creek Drive in Patterson. During the search, investigators discovered two stolen firearms, marijuana, evidence of marijuana sales and cultivation, and approximately $2,000 in cash.
Both Leonardo and Jose Ortiz were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for discharging a firearm in a gross and negligent manner, sales and cultivation of marijuana and possession of stolen property as a result of the search warrant.
Also arrested was 32 year-old Juan Carlos Alvarez of Turlock. Alvarez was arrested last Thursday morning in downtown Modesto by Turlock Police Officers. He was charged with discharging a firearm in a gross and negligent manner.
