Simi Valley – Israel Barajas, 29, a resident of Palmdale, was arrested July 22nd on charges associated with multiple lewd acts upon a child under the age of 12.
The arrest of Barajas comes after a month-long investigation into allegations that he had sexual contact with two girls—both under the age of 10–to whom he is unrelated, but with whom he as familiar through mutual adult acquaintances.
According to Simi Valley Police Department spokesperson Cmdr. Stephanie Shannon, “the suspect is alleged to have molested each girl more than once over a period of time.” It was reported to the media by SVPD Sgt. Randy Foushee that neither girl is related to the other and that Barajas is suspected to have assaulted each of his victims separately.
“There could be multiple counts on each charge brought against him,” Shannon reported to the media, adding that “when one of the victims told her mother what was going on, the mother called us, and we started the investigation,” acknowledging in her comments that “it took some time before he was arrested.”
While no information was forthcoming as to the geographic or physical locations where the alleged assaults occurred due to privacy concerns for the victims and their families, because the alleged violations took place in Ventura County, Barajas was arrested in his Palmdale residence by Simi Valley Detectives. He was then transported to Ventura County Jail where he was booked on multiple sex charges including digital penetration of a child under 10, with his bail set at $100,000.
