Two Men Arrested in Calexico Stabbing
CALEXICO- During an early morning altercation, two men were stabbed and later two men, including one of the victims, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
On Thursday morning at 1 a.m. Calexico police officers received a call from a citizen reporting that her friend’s husband had been stabbed. Officers arrived on the scene near Santa Ana Street and Rancho Frontera Avenue, finding a victim. Police logs report that the officers found Julian Alvarado, 19, of El Centro wounded near the site of the altercation. Alvarado was suffering from wounds to his back and his left arm.
After taking the victim’s report, Officers followed information on where to find one of the suspects involved. They were able to locate the vehicle described near Rancho Frontera and Meadows Avenue. Alberto Loera, 19, and Omar Castro, 20, both of Calexico were discovered inside the vehicle. Loera was suffering from stab wounds to his hip and left leg.
Both injured men were treated by the Calexico Fire Department and transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center where they were reported to be in stable condition. Police believe that the fight and subsequent stabbing stemmed over bad blood between Loera and the girlfriend of one of the men involved in the incident. According to Calexico Police Sgt. German Duran, Castro and Loera were later booked into Imperial County Jail on charges that included attempted murder.
