Police arrested a man earlier this month who they say stabbed two people at a local convenience store in June.
According to Santa Maria Police, detectives responded to a report at 9:44 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, that a man wanted in connection with the June 8 stabbing of two people at the 7-Eleven in the 1000 block of North Broadway was at an apartment complex in the 200 block of East Orhcard Street.
When detectives arrived at the housing complex, they found Jorge Coria, 31, had barricaded himself in one of the apartments and was refusing to cooperate with law enforcement.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Special Enforcement Team was called in and the suspect eventually surrendered after a two-hour stand-off with officers, police said.
Coria was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of attempted murder.
