Suspect Arrested after Armed Robbery
A man was arrested this Saturday after a robbery at the Sierra Wine and Deli in Chico.
After 9 p.m., the Chico Police Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a clerk working at the deli saying that the store had just been robbed. The clerk recounted the incident, saying that the suspect had a gun but was disarmed during a struggle.
Officers arrived at the scene within two minutes and were able to locate the suspect, 63 year-old Douglas Friedrich of Paradise, CA.
Friedrich was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail on two counts of armed robbery and possession of a loaded firearm.
Friedrich was also identified as the suspect of another robbery last Friday at a Circle K convenience store and another at a Shell gas station in Oroville the day before. The clothes he wore at the most recent robbery matched the description of the clothes he wore during the previous robberies.
