Michael Lewis Davis, Jr., 27, allegedly entered a couple’s ground-floor apartment shortly before 4:15 a.m. Aug. 15 and began stealing items when he was confronted by the male and female, who were asleep at the time of the break-in, police said.

According to police, Davis allegedly assaulted the occupants after they awoke and attempted to thwart the burglary, stole items from the home and then fled the area on foot.

With help from the victims, officers were able to quickly identify Davis as the suspect in the burglary and located him in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, where he was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Officers recovered evidence related to the alleged burglary when they arrested Davis, who was booked at San Luis County Jail on one count of burglary and one count of robbery. His bail was set at $60,000.
