Sword wielding murder suspect tracked to Mexico
A man who fled from southern California in 2008 after allegedly fatally stabbing his girlfriend with a sword was apprehended last week.
Jesus Canales’ arrest Thursday may be the first step toward resolving the gruesome Lancaster murder in which 26-year-old Lucy Preciado was killed in front of her children. Authorities responded to Preciado’s home only after her daughter called 911.
Canales, originally from El Salvador, was arrested by Mexican authorities in Jalisco. He will likely be extradited to Los Angeles, where he will be charged with murder.
