Robber hits store clerk with brass knuckles
Paso Robles – Two Paso Robles men are in custody after they allegedly robbed Smart and Final on Thursday.
According to a press release from the Paso Robles Police Department, they received a call around 6:37 p.m. regarding a robbery which had just occurred at the store located at 2121 Spring St.
A store clerk told police that two adult males entered the store and tried to walk out with a 20-pack of beer. The clerk said he confronted the two suspects while they were trying to leave the store. The clerk had already called the police and was trying to detain them until police could arrive on the scene.
The clerk said the men resisted, and one of them hit him several times in the head with brass knuckles from which the clerk sustained minor injuries.
The clerk told police the suspects ran from the area.
Once police were able to identify one of the suspects from the store surveillance video, officers went to the suspect’s home, located on 2oth St., and found both suspects.
The two men arrested were Heriberto Rodriguez II, 23, of Paso Robles for felony robbery and felony assault with a deadly weapon and Jaime Gil Jr., 18,of Paso Robles for felony robbery and violation of probation. Both were booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
