SANTA MARIA — A drunk driver trying to evade police crashed into a 5-year-old girl’s bedroom Wednesday shortly after 9 p.m. The girl received minor injuries.
Police arrested Moises Vazquez, 20, on charges of drunk driving, according to a press release from Santa Maria Police Department. His passenger, Ricardo Vazquez, 19, was arrested for public intoxication.
Police initially tried to pull Vazquez over at Broadway and Fesler for a vehicle code violation. Vazquez would not yield to officers, led them on a half-mile pursuit, and subsequently lost control of his vehicle before it careened into a converted garage in the 800 block of North Thornburg.
The girl was taken to Marian Medical Center, treated and released. Vazquez and Vazquez were booked at Santa Barbara County Jail.
