Skateboarders arrested for shoveling snow after trespassing at skatepark

TEHACAHAPI — Three skateboarders were arrested on Tuesday, after what they claim was doing a good deed.

Police booked and cited 23-year-old Kyle Huddleston and two of his friends, who are minors, for trespassing, after the trio jumped the fence at a local  skatepark to shovel off ramps after a weekend storm dumped four inches of snow.

Huddleston was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The Ollie Mountain Skate Park is owned by the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District, which warned the skateboarded through Facebook that they would be arrested if they came on the property while it was closed.  The facility has been closed for safety reasons.

However, despite the district’s warning, the skateboarders went to the park the next day, and according to police, were arrested at around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 10, after park maintenance staff asked them to leave.

Huddleston told local news reporters that they were only trying to help.
