Two Suspects Identified in Motel Shooting

FRESNO – Police are searching for a man and woman they believe are responsible for the murder of a man on a motel along Highway 99 on Sunday.

Authorities say 33-year-old Cosmen Alvarez and 45-year-old Yolanda Aviles are responsible for shooting and killing a 36-year-old man who was found at the Vagabond Inn off of Highway 99 and Jensen Avenue. The man had suffered from several gunshot wounds and his 29-year-old girlfriend had been pistol-whipped, authorities said.

Authorities say the victims and the suspects knew each other and may have been semi-related. They say a dispute over property or money may have led to the shooting. Three pounds of marijuana were found in the victim’s car, as well as several cell phones.
