CALIPATRIA- Attempting to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine into Calipatria State Prison got a woman arrested on Christmas Day.
On Wednesday during prison visiting hours, staff noticed that Lisa Salas Harper, 39, of Riverside appeared nervous while being processed to visit inmate Walter Harper, according to Lt. Everardo Silva, prison administrative assistant public information officer.
Harper continued to appear uneasy, so staff inquired if she was carrying any contraband. After being asked, Harper gave up her stash. According to Silva, she was carrying four small packages containing a combined weight of 3.3 grams of heroin and two containing a combined weight of 3 grams of methamphetamine.
The heroin has an estimated value of $1,650 while the methamphetamine has an estimated prison value of $4,500.
Walter Harper is currently in prison, convicted of attempted murder. The evidence collected from Lisa Harper linked the inmate to the crime, and Walter Harper was placed into the prison’s administration segregation unit. Lisa Harper was booked into Imperial County jail.
