Suspect was on Parole for Attempted Murder
WATSONVILLE—The Watsonville Police Department arrested 27-year-old Salinas resident and parolee Adam Lee Delgado after it was revealed that he robbed a person on the 100 Block of West Beach Street in Watsonville on Monday.
At 8:52 p.m., the 47-year-old female victim was walking home from work on West Street when she was approached by Delgado, who was on parole for attempted murder, and a second suspect. Delgado then demanded that she turn over her purse.
The female fearing for her safety did not resist Delgado as he took the purse from her shoulder. The two then fled the scene on foot. Fortunately for her, officers from the Watsonville Police Department were nearby conducting an ABC Enforcement Operation (Alcohol Beverage Control) when they witnessed Delgado running by and acting suspiciously. The two officers stopped and detained him.
The female contacted the officers and informed them of the robbery and identified Delgado as one of the suspects. A search was conducted for the second suspect but he was not located. Officers recovered the stolen purse that was hidden nearby.
“Our Officers were sitting there in an unmarked unit when they saw Delgado run by.” Watsonville Police Detective Charlie Bailey said, “It was a case of our officers being in the right place at the right time.”
As for the second suspect, the Watsonville Police have little information on him and Delgado is not talking at this time.
Delgado was arrested and transported to the Santa Cruz County Jail. He was booked on charges of strong arm robbery and parole violation. The Watsonville Police Department is still active looking for the second suspect in this case. They are asking that anyone with information to call the Watsonville Police Department to contact them at 1-831-768-3544.
