San Luis Obispo police arrested a man last week for brandishing a knife.
According to SLOPD, John Ensor, 41, of Bakersfield was allegedly involved in an altercation last Monday with several other males. The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. near the intersection of Chorro and Higuera streets. It is unknown what the disturbance was about or how it originated.
An off-duty police officer witnessed Ensor pulling out a knife and holding it over his head in a threatening manner against the other individuals. The officer happened to be in the area with his family. The officer drew his firearm on Ensor while identifying himself as an officer. The officer said Ensor threw down the knife, but ran from the scene.
Another officer stopped Ensor in a parking lot and detained him until the first officer could identify him. Ensor was booked into SLO County Jail for the brandishing. His bail was set at $2,000.
