Eight people were arrested near Rincon Beach on Wednesday after officers spotted them loading marijuana from a boat onto a motor home.
A Ventura County Sheriff’s sergeant saw the crime at about 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, and called in for backup. When he went to confront the suspects they ran. But police had already set up perimeter enforcement, and caught the fleeing drug smugglers.
California Highway Patrol, federal border patrol agents, the U.S. Coast guard and local law enforcement responded to the scene.
Later on Wednesday the investigation was handed over to federal drug enforcement officials.
