SAN JOSE – 18-year-old Jose Candido Ramirez was arrested with four 15 and 16-year-old suspects for a “strong arm robbery” that occurred at the World Oil Gas Station located at 2310 McKee Road on Dec 27, 2013.
The San Jose Police dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a possible PC 211 robbery had just occurred. Five suspects including Ramirez and the four Juveniles entered the gas station and grabbed 12-packs of Modello beer. They then began to exit without attempting to pay. The clerk at the station, seeing what was going on, tried to intervene and stop the brazen attempt to steal alcohol. All of the suspects refused to stop. They began hitting the clerk in the head after he had tried to physically prevent them from leaving the store.
The suspects in the robbery were located several blocks away from the scene. SJPD dispatch was advised of multiple teen suspects drinking and smoking marijuana near an apartment complex located at 36 N. Jackson Avenue. Patrolling officers arriving in the area noticed several teens who tried to enter a nearby doorway, pretending to talk on their cell phones when officers arrived. The resident of the apartment identified one juvenile suspect, who was wearing an ankle bracelet on his left ankle, as one of the suspects.
Several of the suspects were located nearby and taken to Juvenile hall, where they were each booked for PC 211 and PC 21310, concealing a knife, after neighbors reported seeing several juveniles jumping fences in the area trying to avoid police.
Ramirez’s bail was set at 50K on January 2, 2014. The next court hearing has been scheduled for January 22, 2014 at 9:00 am in Dept. 35.
