Man Beats Up Girlfriend And Mother Before Barricading Himself Inside Home
TEHACHAPI — Police arrested a 56-year-old man on Tuesday night after he allegedly assaulted two females following a domestic dispute, then barricaded himself in his residence.
Stephen Anthony Damian, was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility on charges of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and making threats with the intent to terrorize.
His bail has been set at $107,500.
According to Tehachapi Police Chief Jeff Kermode, officers responding to a disturbance call at around 9 p.m. on Jan. 14, found Damian and a 26-year-old female victim standing in the front yard of a residence in the 500 block of South Mill Street.
The victim claimed that Damian had assaulted her and her mother after an argument between the two escalated into a fight earlier in the evening.
When officers tried to make contact with Damian, they said he failed to comply and went back into the house, barricading himself inside.
After approximately 20 minutes police said Damian fled the residence through a back door and ran into the backyard of a home on Melrose Court, where after a brief struggle with officers, he was taken into custody.
A search of the residence after Damian’s arrest, turned up multiple firearms, which included a handgun, two rifles, and a rifle stock.
The mother and the 26-year-old victim both sustained minor injuries, and were treated at the Tehachapi Hospital.
