OILDALE — A 31-year-old wanted on an outstanding narcotics warrant, was arrested on Wednesday night in a small community in northeast Bakersfield.
Donnie Birdwell was booked into the Kern County Jail Central Receiving Facility on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and an arrest warrant for unrelated drug charges. According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when deputies tried to stop a bicyclist in the area of Oildale Drive and Warren Avenue in Oildale at around 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 5. The bicyclist, later identified as Birdwell, declined to stop and fled on foot into a home in the 600 block of Date Street.
Shortly after, deputies said they heard a female screaming from inside the home. After forcing there way inside, deputies were able to apprehend Birdwell who did not live at the residence and was unknown to the homeowner.
No one was injured.
