EL DORADO HILLS–On Friday, February 14, 2014, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a parolee-at-large following an overnight standoff in El Dorado Hills.
Nathan Brown, 38, was taken into custody at approximately 5:45 a.m. and booked into El Dorado County Jail for parole violation, obstruction of law enforcement and criminal threats. Brown was also believed to have been in possession of a sawed-off shotgun, according to a press release from the El Dorado County Sheriff Department,
On February 13, deputies arrived at an apartment complex off El Dorado Hills Boulevard and observed a subject fitting the description of Brown who was looking out the window of an apartment. Deputies surrounded the building and began making announcements, which continued for several more hours without contact from Brown.
Just before midnight, Sheriff John D’Agostini’s Crisis Response Unit, (Special Weapons and Tactics, Explosive Ordinance Disposal, and Crisis Negotiation Team) was activated. The SWAT team surrounded the building and continued announcements. The Crisis Negotiation Team eventually made contact with a female, who agreed to exit the apartment. Approximately an hour later, CNT convinced Brown that the Sheriff’s Office would remain there until his surrender. Brown exited without incident and was taken into custody. This case is still under investigation.
