Traffic Stop Anything but ‘Routine’

Traffic Stop Anything but ‘Routine’

LONG BEACH – It is known as a “routine traffic stop.”  Law enforcement conduct numerous such stops and subsequently send the driver off uneventfully.  However, every once in a while what begins as a routine traffic stop ends in an arrest, or more.

Such was the case recently on the 6900 block of Atlantic Avenue when police stopped a driver for a traffic violation.  The “nervous” driver did not have a drivers license.  The vehicle held packaging material that led authorities to investigate the suspect’s home.

There, in the 1100 block of E. 72nd Street, they served a search warrant and discovered nearly 80 pounds of cocaine, 3 pounds of methamphetamine, a handgun, $3,000 and a stolen vehicle.

Police arrested 28-year-old Hildefonso Angulo for possession of narcotics for sales.  He is being held on a $1,000,000 bail.
