HAWTHORNE, CA—What is really happening in that nursing home you put your parents in?
Isabel Morrell, 30, was charged with a number of crimes that should make anyone wary of simply putting one’s parents out to pasture or a child alone with someone unknown.
Most medical and healthcare Web sites define a “caregiver” as a person paid to attend the needs of a person, child or senior citizen who may have dementia, cancer or other healthcare needs requiring assistance.
The caregiver that Hawthorne police picked up on Wednesday, February 19 at approximately 8:30 a.m. was apparently not one attending to anyone’s needs but her own seemingly violent desires. Morrell was charged with threatening a crime with the intent to injure, assault with a deadly weapon (but not a firearm) and vandalism. She also had a warrant for a DUI issued by Torrance police.
The total bail for the three charges was $130,000. Bail for the outstanding warrant was $80,000.
It is unknown if her possible probation will include baby-sitting.
