Merced gangsters stowed guns, authorities say
Two gang members were arrested in Merced this weekend with a cache of weapons in their home, according to police. Pedro Garcia, 36, and Marissa Ann Gonzales, 35, were taken into custody on Saturday.
Authorities uncovered five handguns, a shotgun, a rifle, body armor and several hundred rounds of ammo in their La Palma Avenue home, according to a news release. Police said the couple’s three children had access to the area where the weapons were found.
Garcia was arrested on suspicion of gang participation, being a felon in possession of firearms, child endangerment and possession of stolen property. Gonzales faces gang, weapons and child endangerment charges.
The three children, a 1-year-old boy, 9-year-old girl, and 16-year old girl, were turned over to child protective services.
