SACRAMENTO—The Sacramento Police Department arrested Floyd Adam Martin Jr., 57, on Thursday, March 6 for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in conjunction with an incident on February 13. On Thursday Martin was released from the hospital and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for the above charge.
On Thursday, February 13, at approximately 10:53 a.m., officers responded to the 2900 block of Riverside Boulevard in Land Park regarding two vehicles involved in a collision. Police determined that Martin was driving his Mercedes northbound on Riverside Boulevard when his car struck another vehicle entering the roadway near Fourth Ave.
The driver of the other vehicle, Linda Shaw, 66, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. An adult passenger in the victim’s vehicle, a man in his 60s, was hospitalized for serious injuries he sustained during the collision.
Martin was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and has now been declared fit-for-incarceration, police say. Bail has been set at $310,000.
Investigators say speed played a role in the severity of the crash, which occurred near Crocker/Riverside Elementary school.
