LAMONT – Five suspects were arrested on Sunday night in connection with a gang-related stabbing that left one man in critical condition.
Dennis Ruth, 22, 24-year-old Eddie Catalan, 20-year-old Daniel Catalan and 20-year-old Roberto Rodriguez were all booked into the Kern County Jail for attempted murder, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and other gang related crimes. A fifth man, 23-year-old Juan Hernandez, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when deputies were called out to a report of a stabbing in the 10000 block of Main Street in Lamont at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday night, March 9. Upon their arrival, deputies said they discovered an adult Hispanic male with multiple stab wounds to his chest and a second Hispanic male who appeared to have been beaten.
After a brief investigation, deputies conducted a search for the suspects at a residence in the 8900 block of Jeffry Street in Lamont, where they located the vehicle the suspects used to flee the scene and additional evidence leading to the stabbing and the assault.
