Burglar Arrested in Citrus Heights

CITRUS HEIGHTS—On Saturday, March 8, Citrus Heights Police arrested Christopher Oerding following an assault on a homeowner and failed attempt to escape.

Oerding, 28, a parolee at large, was arrested on suspicion of home invasion robbery, residential burglary, possession of stolen property, identity theft, being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition, and resisting arrest.

On March 8, at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers were called to a report of burglary at the 6500 block of Pacheco Way in Citrus Heights to investigate a suspected burglar being followed by the victim of the above burglary. The victim followed Oerding to the 7600 block of Community Drive but then lost sight of him.

Police officers were searching for Oerding on the 7600 block of Community Drive when they heard a female adult screaming for help from inside her home. Officers converged on the home as Oerding ran out of the front door. A short foot chase ensued ending with Oerding  taken into custody.

The suspect was found to be in possession of stolen property in his backpack. Oerding is now being held at Sacramento County Jail on felony robbery and burglary charges, along with a violation of his parole. His bail was set at $1 million.
