WASCO — A suspected gang member was arrested for drugs on Wednesday morning during a search of a residence operating as a day care in northwest Kern County.
Angel Soto, 24 of Wasco was booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Jail for various narcotics related charges, destruction of evidence and participation in a criminal street gang.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred when officers from the California Multijurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team (CAL-MMET), the Southern Tri County HIDTA Task Force and the Kern Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant in the 400 block of F Street in Wasco at around 6:30 a.m. on April 9.
Authorities said the warrant, which concluded a narcotic investigation that was prompted by public tips regarding the sales of narcotics coming from the residence, was executed prior to any children arriving at the facility.
During their search, officers said they discovered just under a half of a pound of suspected methamphetamine with an estimated street value of just over $20,000.
