Officials Announce Convictions for Two Gang Members

The Two Were Convicted For Separate Incidents

HOLLISTER—The San Benito County District Attorney’s Office reported the conviction of two gang members from two separate gun-related arrests early last year.

Hollister resident 30-year-old Gregory Larios pleaded guilty to the charges of selling drugs for the benefit of a criminal street gang.  He has been sentenced to 15 year in state prison.

Larios was arrested last year after he led Hollister Police Officers on a short foot chase in which he discarded a loaded handgun and a knife as he ran from police.  Police also found evidence that he had participated in an organized criminal street gang. “We would like to thank all the people involved in conviction of two individuals, especially, the District Attorney’s Office for all their hard work.” Hollister Police Captain Carlos Reynoso wrote, “ It is through partnerships like this one that make Hollister a safer place.”

The San Benito County District Attorney’s Office also announced the conviction of 22-year-old Randy Casarez. Last week, Casarez pleaded guilty of being a gang member in possession of a loaded handgun.  He was sentence to serve 5 years in state prison.

Casarez was arrested along with 21-year-old Tiffany Banuelos back in December when a citizen reported a disturbance and a person with a handgun on Tres Pinos Road in Hollister.

The Caller reported that several people that were dressed in gang attire were getting ready to fight.  When Officers arrived most of the people had dispersed but police contacted Banuelos and Casarez.  Officers were able to connect a loaded handgun to both suspects.
