Officers Arrest Second Suspect At Home
HOLLISTER—Authorities with the Hollister Police Department made two arrests in a recent attack on a Hollister resident at the Quick Stop Market. They arrested 20-year-old Eddie Degracia and 23-year-old Desiree Rojas, both also of Hollister.
The attack happened on early Thursday morning, April 17 at 1 a.m., when a group of men and one woman set upon a resident of Hollister at the convenience store. It was reported that the assailants used a knife in their assault. The victim, however, was not seriously hurt in the incident.
On April 21, while investigating another gang related shooting, Gang Officer Matt Weiss noticed that a suspect who had been identified in the stabbing incident was walking down San Benito Street. Officer Weiss arrested Degracia without incident upon contact with him.
When he was arrested, Degracia was carrying a pizza that was intended for his family at his residence. Not wanting to let the pizza go to waste, Officer Luis Toribio delivered the pizza to his home. When Toribio reached the front door, to his surprise, another suspect in the stabbing incident greeted him. Officer Toribio arrested Rojas as she stepped outside to receive the pizza.
Both Degracia and Rojas were transported to the San Benito County Jail. Degracia was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and violating his parole while Rojas was charges with assault with a deadly weapon.
“If it was not for the CALGRIP GRANT our gang enforcement officer would not have been investigating this crime and we would not have made any arrest.” Hollister Police Captain Carlos Reynoso said.
A third suspect in this case is still wanted in this attack. Anthony Samuel Villareal is described as being 5 feet tall 110 pounds and black hair brown eyes. If you come across Villareal please call the Hollister Police Department at 831-636-4330 and Gang Task Force Officer Matt Weiss at Ext 132.
