Over the Cinco de Mayo holiday, the City of San Jose experienced two homicides along with another death.
The first came when a call was received by the SJPD 9-1-1 dispatchers reporting two bodies being found in a townhome located near the 1500 block of Marlene Way on Monday. Two men were found with fatal gunshot wounds. The girlfriend of one of the men found them. He had been apparently shot by her estranged husband, who had recently come to stay with his ex-wife after being diagnosed with cancer. Authorities are reporting the incident as a possible murder-suicide involving the terminally ill man and his romantic rival.
According to Officer Albert Morales with the SJPD, “I have information that the decedents did know each other.” Morales said, “They are not strangers to each other”. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots the night before after hearing an argument, but many thought that it might have been firecrackers due to the Cinco de Mayo holiday.
Then on the afternoon of May 6 an incident involving two vehicles in a road rage dispute ended with the shooting of one driver. At about 10:20 am on Tuesday, two drivers began arguing over one driver almost hitting the other. The incident occurred near the Coyote Creek Mobile Home Park at Baltic Way, in San Jose. An argument erupted between both drivers, who had nearly collided when one driver exited the Mobile Home Park onto Senter Road.
The argument had grown so intense that both drivers pulled over to the side of the road, ending with one driver getting out from his vehicle to confront the two men. The driver of the silver Volkswagen Jetta fired several shots at the man. The shooting suspect and passenger then drove away from the scene. The victim later died from his injuries.
