Martial Arts Instructor Gets 13 Years in State Pen

Suspect Pleaded No Contest To Charges

HOLLISTER—Remember this guy?  He was arrested last year for lewd and Lascivious acts with a 14-year-old girl.  On May 1, The San Benito County District Attorney’s Office reported that 52-year-old Martial Arts Instructor Timothy Gutierrez pleaded no contest to the charges. He will have to serve a 13-year sentence in state prison and register as a sex offender.

Gutierrez was as instructor at Technique Studios in Hollister, which offered a variety of self-defense classes to students of all ages. In April of 2013, the family of a student became aware of inappropriate contact between him and their 14-year-old daughter.

The family called the Hollister Police Department and reported the incident. After a lengthy investigation, the Hollister Police Department, along with the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office, announced that they had enough probable cause to arrest Gutierrez on the charges of lewd conduct with a minor.

Naturally, Gutierrez is no longer associated with Technique Studios.

“We would like to thanks all the people involved in the extensive investigation.” Hollister Police Captain Carlos Reynoso said in a press release. “We would also like to thank the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office for their hard work.”
