Ventura County – A reasonable person who had formerly been incarcerated following felony criminal convictions pursuant to various degrees of gang activity ranging from “tagging” to robbery would be careful about his conduct while enjoying freedom under terms of early release and parole.
Terms of any felony parole specifically proscribe the possession of guns, ammunition, weapons of any kind, explosives, and drugs, but apparently Jesus Antonio Solis, 24, an Oxnard resident, either forgot those limitations upon his conduct or is simply not that “reasonable person.” Evidence of that came on May 9th when, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Detective Brian Slominski, “the Sheriff’s Gang Unit served a search warrant” upon Solis’ residence pursuant to ongoing investigations into the area’s organized criminal activities.
The search of Solis’ Oxnard home led deputies to the discovery of multiple loaded handguns, more than 100 rounds of ammunition, and “numerous illegal mortar style fireworks” inside the house. The fireworks were of such concern to investigators that the Ventura County Bomb Squad was called to the location to ascertain their control and provide for the safety of all in the area.
A known member of a criminal street gang, and an “affiliated” tagging crew participant, Solis’ reputation and history of convictions preceded him on the day of the warrant search and his immediate arrest on multiple charges of felon in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. He was transported to Ventura County Jail for booking with his bail set at $60,000.
