Last week, officers from the Rocklin Police Department made a number of arrests, including a woman who attempted to bring drugs into jail with her, a man who assaulted his elderly landlord, and two men who attempted a burglary, according to an official weekly report.
On Tuesday, May 6 at about 5:12 pm, officers reportedly responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival, officers determined the female suspect had given a false name to investigating officers. When her true name was discovered, it was reportedly found the suspect had several outstanding warrants for her arrest. The suspect was then taken to Placer County Jail where she reportedly attempted to bring controlled substances into the jail.
Jamie Safrans, 27, of Rancho Cordova was reportedly booked into the Placer County Jail on charges of burglary, bringing a controlled substance into a jail, possession of a controlled substance, possession of burglary tools, giving a false ID to a police officer, and outstanding warrants.
Also on Tuesday May 6, at approximately 7:28 pm, Rocklin PD officers reportedly responded to a physical fight in the 2700 block of Tahoe Vista Court. Upon arrival, officers reportedly learned that the suspect had choked and assaulted his elderly landlord. When the victim reportedly attempted to call the police, the suspect took her cell phone from her.
Tracy Best, 51, of Rocklin, was reportedly arrested and booked into the Placer County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, and damaging or destroying a phone line.
According to an article in the Press Tribune, on Friday, May 9 at approximately 12:28 pm, officers responded to the Walmart at 5454 Crossing Drive near Sierra College Boulevard and Interstate 80 on reports of a robbery. According to Rocklin PD, two suspects had entered the store, and one of them concealed a bottle of alcohol in his pants. The suspects reportedly attempted to leave the store without paying, but were stopped by Loss Prevention. A physical altercation reportedly broke out, and one of the suspects took the Loss Prevention officer’s phone by force. The two suspects then reportedly fled into the parking lot, where a customer tried to stop the suspect who took the phone. That suspect then reportedly struck the customer with a 2×4 in the arm and continued to flee towards Sierra College Boulevard. Officers reportedly arrived on the scene and apprehended both suspects.
Kory Johnson, 23, and Bradley Rondeau, 20, both of Loomis, were reportedly arrested and charged with robbery, burglary, conspiracy to commit crime, and assault with a deadly weapon.
