The Placer County Sheriff’s Office has recently announced two arrests, including a bank robber and a nursing assistant suspected of elder abuse, according to official press releases.
On Friday, May 16, 2014, a North Lake Tahoe bank robber was reportedly apprehended after feeling the bank and leading officers on a pursuit to Carson City, Nevada.
Brent Muir, 55, of Elk Grove, was reportedly arrested and was in custody in Douglas County, Nevada, on charges of evading officers as of May 16. Placer County detectives reportedly were requesting a warrant for Muir’s arrest for the bank robbery as of May 16.
According to Placer County Sheriff, on May 16 at 9:06 am, the suspect entered the Plumas Bank on North Lake Boulevard in Kings Beach, pulled out a gun, demanded money from two tellers, and then ran to a nearby car. A witness reportedly saw him drive away and was able to give Placer County Sheriff’s deputies a license plate number and vehicle description.
Two FBI agents were reportedly driving to the bank from South Lake Tahoe when they spotted the suspect’s vehicle pulled to the side of the road near Sand Harbor. The agents were reportedly in an unmarked car and maintained surveillance until a marked Nevada Highway Patrol car joined them. The suspect reportedly got back on the road, realized law enforcement vehicles were behind him, and failed to pull over. A pursuit reportedly began, which ended near Highway 50 and Highway 395 in Carson City. The suspect reportedly attempted to run from his car and was apprehended by officers.
Agencies reportedly pursuing the suspect included the Nevada Highway Patrol, the FBI and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and there were no accidents or injuries in the pursuit.
And on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, a nursing assistant at an Auburn care home was reportedly arrested by Placer County Sheriff’s deputies, after two elderly female residents at the home reportedly complained he had exposed himself to them and had kissed them against their will.
Marlo Santos Quinton, 57, of Auburn, was reportedly booked at the Placer County Jail and charged with elder abuse and indecent exposure. He reportedly cooperated with deputies and detectives during questioning. Quinton’s bail was reportedly set at $50,000 — he reportedly posted bail and was released on May 22, 2014.
