San Luis Obispo Police Officers arrested a man for DUI last Monday after he crashed his vehicle into another one causing injury to a motorist who was waiting at a red light in a third vehicle
According to SLOPD, officers responded to a report of a traffic collision around 5:16 p.m. on the 3200 block of Broad Street.
When officers arrived, they discovered the suspect, Derek Jason Johnson, 48, was allegedly responsible for the collision.
According to SLOPD, Johnson was driving his vehicle northbound on Broad Street when. For unknown reasons, he collided with a vehicle in front of him.
The force of the collision caused the vehicle to strike another vehicle that was stopped at the red light. The driver of the stopped vehicle sustained injuries.
While checking all involced for injuries, officers discovered Johnson was allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence.
Johnson was arrested for felony DUI causing a collision with injures.
Johnson was transported to San Luis Obispo County Jail where he was booked. His bail was set at $100,000.
The injured driver was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
