BEVERLY HILLS — May 30th. Something had gone down at the Beverly Wilshire hotel.
It was about 7:30 p.m. that officers responded to reports of a sexual battery at the hotel located in the 9500 block of Wilshire Boulevard, only to discover the suspect in question to be none other than 33-year-old William Ray Norwood, Jr. — more famously known as the singer “Ray J.”
It was initially claimed that he’d been involved in an altercation after grabbing a woman’s behind, though the contact was later determined to have been incidental. Nonetheless, Ray J agreed to leave the hotel.
Apparently he changed his mind out in the valet area, becoming belligerent with valets and refusing to go anywhere.
He was eventually taken into custody by a uniform officer and placed in the back of a patrol car, wherein he flew even further off the handle and kicked out the vehicle’s side window. He was then removed from the car and his feet bound, during which he seized the opportunity to spit in one unlucky officer’s face.
And so it went that Ray J was booked for trespassing, vandalism, resisting arrest, and battery on a police officer, with bail set at $20,000. He posted bond early the next morning and is due in LAX Court on July 25.
