FOLSOM— Thousands of dollars in bikes stolen in April from a Folsom bicycle shop were recovered on Monday, June 16, 2014 after an undercover sting led to the bicycles and the suspect.

Security video from a shop and a gas station next door, along with tips to the public led police to the 36 bikes worth $85,000. They had been in a trailer that was stolen in April.

Two months after the high-end bikes were stolen, Folsom Police took those leads and arranged a sting by telling the suspect they wanted to see the bikes before they purchased them.

Ishkan Amirkhanyan, 36, was arrested after police confirmed the bikes he was trying to sell were stolen. A search warrant at his Citrus Heights garage found 15 more. The news of the recovered bicycles and the arrest came as a welcome surprise at Folsom Bike, where they had assumed the bikes were gone for good.

Amirkhanyan was booked into Sacramento County jail on suspicion of possessing stolen property.

Investigators are still searching for additional stolen bikes. Anyone with information regarding people who may have bought a bicycle from Amirkhanyan is asked to call Detective Timothy Galovich at (916) 355-7241.
