Baked motorist runs over drunk jaywalker — jaywalker at fault

REDDING — Just after 1:00 in the morning on June 22, Redding Police officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Victor & Hartnell Avenues. They arrived to find 27-year-old local Timothy Lindsay on the ground.

Officers gathered that Lindsay and two of his friends had been drinking at The Hen House earlier that night. While walking westbound on Hartnell, they jaywalked across Victor Avenue while the southbound traffic signal was green and just as Devin Beuoy (18) came through in his ’65 Dodge Dart. An extremely-intoxicated Lindsay was struck and soon thereafter transported to Mercy Medical Center for a contusion to his head and further medical evaluation.

Beuoy admitted he’d been smoking pot earlier and was unfit to drive. Officers found marijuana, a pipe, and a small amount of concentrated cannabis on Beuoy as well as in his car. He was then booked into Shasta County Jail for misdemeanor DUI and felony possession of concentrated cannabis. Since preliminary investigation determined Lindsay to be at fault for the collision, Beuoy was not charged with DUI with injury.

On another note, one of Lindsay’s friends — 22-year-old Miles Pollard — was arrested for public intoxication after he became drunkenly belligerent at the scene.
