BAKERSFIELD — A man suspected of selling drugs in east Bakersfield, was arrested on Wednesday night after running from police.
Eric Frank Grijalva was booked into the Sheriff’s Central Receiving Facility on charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale, transportation of a controlled substance and resisting or delaying a peace officer during the performance of his duties.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident leading to Grijalva’s arrest began at approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 25, when deputies from the Gang Suppression Section stopped the 23-year-old in the 900 block of Bernard Street in east Bakersfield.
Deputies said that when they attempted to speak with Grijalva, he fled discarding several items from his pockets, including 21 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale.
After a short foot pursuit and momentary struggle with the deputies, Grijalva was taken into custody.
