JURUPA VALLEY – Following the death of a pedestrian last night, Jurupa Valley Police are asking the public for help in finding a suspect.
After receiving a call regarding an injured pedestrian on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 10:52 p.m., officers from Jurupa Valley Police Department responded to Mission Blvd., east of Crestmore Rd. The pedestrian was reported to have major injuries and when officers arrived on scene they discovered the victim laying on the ground and unresponsive.
Cal Fire personnel responded to the scene and immediately provided triage to the badly injured victim. As soon as the pedestrian was stabilized, he was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. At this time, the Jurupa Valley Traffic Team arrived on the scene, assuming control of the investigation.
The area immediately surrounding the scene was blocked off for most of last night while investigators searched for evidence and reconstructed the crime. Eastbound and westbound lanes of Mission Blvd. between Crestmore Rd. and Redwood Dr. were closed for approximately eight hours. At this time, the department is withholding the name of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation is still active and ongoing as the Jurupa Valley Traffic Team continues to seek the location of the suspect in the crime, which is now considered vehicular manslaughter. The vehicle that fled the scene following the collision is described as a dark-colored Toyota pick-up truck with dark tinted windows and black rims.
The public is being asked to contact Deputy Postoian of the Jurupa Valley Traffic Team at (951) 955-2600 if they have any information regarding the crime. After hours, and on weekends the Department may be reached at (951) 776-1099.
