The Roseville Police Department arrested a total of six individuals in two recent robbery cases, according to an official weekly report.
On Saturday, July 12 at about 3 pm, a women and her companion were reportedly shopping at a store in the 1800 block of Douglas Boulevard, and the woman’s purse was in the upper basket of her shopping cart. The woman turned her back to the cart to look at merchandise, and her companion witnessed a man take her cellphone out of the purse and walk quickly away. The victim reportedly followed the suspect and tried to get her property back, but the suspect acted aggressively towards the woman, frightening her, and then ran away with her phone.
Officers were called in to investigate, and about an hour later stopped two men coming out of another store in the same shopping complex. The two men reportedly had two phones on them they had just purchased from another man. One of the phones was recognized as belonging to the victim, and the two men were said to be in the process of deleting her contacts and other history from the phone. Officers reportedly arrested the two men and returned the stolen phone to the victim.
Brothers Vitaliy Zelenyuk, 20, and Igor Zelenyuk, 22, both of Fair Oaks, were reportedly arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property and conspiracy.
Continuing their investigation, officers reportedly went to a hotel on Harding Boulevard, where they found the man suspected of stealing the cellphone from the woman’s purse, and he was taken into custody. Nicholas Adam Prock, 26, of Roseville, was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Then on Sunday, July 13 at about 5:15 pm, officers responded to a report of a prowler on Hatton Court. A resident had reportedly heard a noise in his backyard, looked out and saw a man trying to remove a window screen. The resident confronted the intruder and called police, while the intruder took off running, climbing over fences into other backyards.
Responding officers reportedly stopped an associated car on Blanchard Drive near Woodcreek Oaks Boulevard that was occupied by two males. About 45 minutes later, they stopped a third suspect on foot on Bottlebrush Circle. Officers reportedly arrested all three suspects. Andrew William Jones, 21, Cody R. Blakeman, 20, and Michael J. McCracken, 21 — all of Roseville — were arrested and charged on suspicion of attempted burglary, conspiracy and other related charges.
This is not the first time they have been in trouble. According to records, Jones was arrested in September of last year for possession of drug paraphernalia and petty theft. Blakeman has several arrests in the past year on possession of drugs and paraphernalia, and being under the influence. McCracken, who according to his Facebook page recently started worked as a salesman at Future Ford, is a possible match for arrests for DUI and battery with injury in 2011-12.
