Two suspects are reportedly in custody in connection to the shooting and murder of a Fair Oaks man inside his home this past Sunday, according to an official press release from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Deonte Lindel Upchurch, 25, and Matthew Brownwood, 31, were reportedly arrested on the afternoon of Monday, July 21, and booked into the Sacramento County Jail on murder and robbery charges. Sac Sheriff is reportedly not releasing booking photos of the two suspects at this time due to immediate follow-up reasons.
According to Sac Sheriff, at about 9:40 pm the evening of Sunday, July 20, deputies responded to the 7400 block of Tierra Way in Fair Oaks after receiving multiple calls of a male being shot during a fight at his residence. Upon arrival, deputies reportedly found a male victim — later identified as Wesley J. Camp, 34 — shot in the upper torso. Medical personnel reportedly arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.
Detectives reportedly believe the two suspects were invited into the victim’s home Sunday night and attempted to take items within the home that did not belong to them. Officers believe a resident of the home — later identified as Camp — reportedly confronted the two suspects and was shot during the altercation.
Homicide detectives are asking anyone with further information regarding this incident to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5115.
