Dixon police arrested Juan Carlos Gonzalez-Flores, 25, of Dixon on several charges including hit-and-run, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and DUI.
At approximately 10 pm on the evening of Wednesday, July 23, police observed Gonzalez-Flores unsuccessfully attempt to negotiate the curve as he turned from West A Street onto Pitt School Road. Gonzalez-Flores’s car hit a low retaining wall separating the streets from a sidewalk and blew out two of his tires.
He nonetheless proceeded northward in the southbound lanes of Pitt School Road after crossing the median planted with trees and shrubs. Police finally apprehended Gonzalez-Flores about a half mile north of the intersection with West A Street.
Luckily Gonzalez-Flores hit no other cars on his wrong way journey; the hit-and-run charges stemmed from his leaving the scene of the accident at the intersection of Pitt School Road and West A Street.
“A driver involved in any accident involving his or her vehicle has a duty to remain at the scene where it occurred,” stated Dixon Police Sergeant Brad Harms. The incidents remain under investigation. Gonzalez-Flores was lodged in Solano County Jail and his vehicle got towed.
