Ventura County – Over a two day period from July 31st to August 1st, the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit fulfilled their mission of fighting the traffic of illegal drugs and prescription medications, particularly as it relates to drug use among youthful members of the community following a Crime Stoppers Tip reporting the active sale of drugs by a Camarillo 19 year-old, Anthony Barragan.
With the tip indicating active drug sales from Barragan’s residence, Ventura County Sheriffs and Simi Valley Police detectives staked out the house and soon observed Barragan selling drugs to a juvenile, who impatiently used the recently-purchased cocaine in plain sight of the detectives. According to VCSD Public Information Officer Sgt. Victor Fazio, “deputies arrested the juvenile for being under the influence and possession of cocaine.” At that point, a search warrant for Barragan’s residence was obtained.
The following morning, August 1st, deputies maintained surveillance of the residence and observed additional episodes of drug sales from the home. At one point, they saw Barragan exit the residence and get into a waiting vehicle. The car went only a short distance with detectives stopped the vehicle and detained the occupants, Angel Bracamontes, 19, and Roselyn Marceleno, 18, who were found to be in possession of cocaine. All three were arrested for possession of cocaine, with Barragan arrested for sales of cocaine and sales to a minor.
As detectives prepared to serve the search warrant of Barragan’s residence, Jesse Place, 21, exited and drove away, only to be stopped a short distance away when he was found to be in possession of cocaine. The subsequent search of Barragan’s house and his bedroom revealed evidence of ongoing cocaine sales. All those arrested were transported to Ventura County Jai, with Barragan’s bail set at $50,000.
