Comedian Katt Williams Arrested for Pepper-Spray Assault near LAX
INGLEWOOD, CA—When is it not so funny it simply hurts?
Katt Micah Williams, 43, was arrested by Inglewood Police Department (IPD) officers on Sunday, August 3 at approximately 7:45 p.m. The comedian, who has numerous recordings and a wildly popular and highly outrageous comedy act, was charged with force or assault with a deadly weapon not a firearm (245(A)(1)PC). The Woodland Hills resident was arrested at 27000 Agoura Boulevard in Calabasas, about 5 miles west of his home. Bail was set at $50,000.
The arrest this week stemmed from an incident on July 15, when Williams and his bodyguard were said to have attempted to take a camera from a man named Glen Jackson, who described himself as a fan of Williams. Jackson said he took a photo of Williams near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) that night and that the two men then jumped out of Williams’ Rolls Royce, pepper-sprayed him and took his camera. Jackson claims that the pair thereafter attempted to run him over, and that after hitting him, Williams sprayed Jackson a second time as they drove off.
Williams has been arrested previously and was charged with trespassing and burglary in Beverly Hills in 2009. It was alleged that he broke into a home he owned, and was renting out, stealing approximately $3,600 worth of jewelry from the tenant. He was also picked up for leading Sacramento police on a reckless driving chase in November 2012, and for missing his court date. Prior to that his record shows a number of arrests and incidents all over the U.S.
In IPD arrest records, Williams proclaimed himself a comedian. Now, that’s funny.
